Known as the "Rock of Bishops", the castle is one of the most fascinating aspects of the history of Brendola. For the period between the eleventh to twelfth century the castle served as a theatre for the struggles between the nobility and the bishop and, starting from 1184 the regency and the episcopal power were confirmed. The city was later involved in disputes between Verona, Padua and finally surrendered spontaneously to Venice in 1404. General Bartolomeo d'Alviano, in 1508, ordered the destruction of the fortress to avoid its becoming a support for the invaders.
